Dynasty Warriors 25th Anniversary Includes a Remaster Teaser

August 3, 2025, is the 25th anniversary day of the Dynasty Warriors series. Koei Tecmo celebrated the occasion by publishing a new webpage and trailer while making several major announcements. One of them is a teaser for a remaster of an unspecified prior numbered mainline entry from the series.

In addition, Koei Tecmo announced that Omega Force is also working on a major DLC for Dynasty Warriors Origins. The company will reveal more details about both projects at a later time.

The announcement trailer is also available right below:

The Japanese webpage has a couple more announcements not included in other regions. Besides new merchandise, Koei Tecmo exclusively announced a special video that will play at the navigator consoles in Joysound karaoke outlets across Japan from August 20, 2025.

Tomohiko Sho, the chief of Omega Force, also held an informal poll about the most wanted next non-Dynasty Warriors Musou game on social media ahead of this anniversary. Samurai Warriors won the poll at 43.5%, with Warriors Orochi following closely at 37.1%. 16.1% of the 3,434 votes went for other dormant Warriors series with an emphasis on Bandai Namco’s Gundam franchise, which has not had a new entry since Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn came out for PlayStation 3 and Vita in late 2013 in Japan.

The Dynasty Warriors series’ anniversary day is based on the release of the first Shin Sangoku Musou for PlayStation 2 in Japan on August 3, 2000. The genre-defining game was localized to the West as Dynasty Warriors 2. As a side note, the release of the first Dynasty Warriors—the PS1 fighting game known in Japan as Sangoku Musou—on February 28, 1997, is instead celebrated as the anniversary day for Omega Force as the series’ development studio.

The series’ latest entry as of the 25th anniversary day is Dynasty Warriors Origins, which is readily available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. A new major DLC for the game is in the works.
